Longhorn Problem

I tried to install Windows Longhorn Build 4051 PDC Release. It was all good until it rebooted and when it said 'Detecting Hardware Please Wait, It should be done in 10mins' I waited ten mins and wait at least half an hour more. It was still on the detecting hardware screen. So i said F*** it and used my system restore CDs to put on Windows XP Again

Here are my system Specs

(my comp is only 1 yr old)

HP Pavilion Notebook ZE4210

Celeron 1.6Ghz Processor
256MB RAM
ATI Graphics (Forgot the model)
20GB Harddrive
(forgot the rest)

it came with XP Pro and a whole lot of sh*t

does any1 know why it is doing that???!?!?!?!

Maybe its too new. Perhaps bugs

I wanted to test trying the Longhorn but first, maybe I should run few links to see if Longhorn are compatible for my pc specs or not.

Is longhorn any good? I can get it though MSDN LEAGALY but is it worth my time or should I stick with 98 xp and 2k3 for now?

IMO, exploring new technology is ALWAYS worth a person's time. Sure, there will be bugs, but it's interesting to see where technology is going, isn't it? Thing is, if you don't like it, you can always go back
BTW-if you don't mind me askin-how can you get it legally? It's not scheduled to be released for another couple years...but I'd LOVE to try it out before then...

You could get Virtual PC via MSDN as well and mess with it there. Matter-o-fact, I think I will do that.

Good idea siliconjunkie.

Gettinbye - MSDN is the microsoft development network. Subscribers to MSDN have access to all MS software (not including the gaming department) And my uncle pays a bunch every year and I test his software on my comp with diff apps I download.

MSDN has all the beta's and alpha's of there up and coming software.
