should i flash my 9800 to 9800 pro?

i have the 9800 non-pro w/ infineon mem w/ omega cat3.9 drivers. i know you need samsung mem but i was able to overclock to 380/340. ran couple games and benchmarks and were not able to see any visual problems. should i flash my 9800 w/ 9800 pro bios? need some input. thanks

Is there any benefit to doing that?

Most non samsung chiped cards arent cutting it. More to mem then overall mhz. Other timings are there just like system mem. Diff bios will default at diff cas timings aswell as the volts. So its not all cut and dry like if you can go to that mhz all is well. Ask the many who failed....and see how many out of those who failed had cards WITHOUT samsung. Just backup your original bios first so you can go back and it shouldnt hurt anything to try it. No garuntee's of course.

Only if you can afford to throw the card away. you are taking a chance that it may never work again. (worst case scenario.)
If you don't mind taking that chance, and have bios flashing experience. Go for it.

and as Xtreeme said above BACK UP THE ORIGINAL BIOS FIRST! (sorry can't stress that strongly enough.)

I'm not saying they don't exist, but i've yet to see a 9800 with infineon ram be successfully flashed to a 9800 Pro... The funny part is that samsung ram rated at 3.3ns is able to do it while Infineon ram rated at 3.0ns can't... Just goes to show you how good that samsung ram really is.

Tried to flash my ATI Radeon 9800 NP to PRO (failed flash). U have to have the SAMSUNG chips to be successfull. I have the 3.0ns Infineon chips and I can get some good clock speeds but when forced to the 9800 Pro speeds, it didn't work.

IMO - No, do not do it.

Just my .02
