windows 95 prob

ok my girl's home computer has win 95 on it cause thats all it can handle. well now for some reason it wont even get into windows. even if i try to go into safe mode it just will sit there on the windows welcome screen, does anyone have any ideas what i could do to get it into windows?

Can you boot w/ a floppy disk? Have you tested the HDD or RAM?
It could just be a hosed driver, have you tried 'Step-by-Step' to see what it hangs on?

it hangs on loading win.com

How would you feel about resintalling Windows? You could try fixing it, but w/ the time you put into it, it'd probably be easier to just start from scratch w/ it.

At boot hit f8 until you get the boot menu. Select Command Prompt Only. Run Scandisk and then go back to the C:/ prompt. Type 'win', hit 'enter' and see what happens.

boot to dos screen

run "scanreg /restore" and then choose one of the dates to restore the registry to....can be a cool trick sometimes

Heh, just throw it out. Spend 400$ and get a new 'puter. Just easier.
