EXTREMELY stupid question...

ok... this is really gettin me po'd...
when i have internet explorer open, and click on a link. it opens a new window, right? (well, ok, most of the time it opens a new window).
anyways... when it DOES open a new window... how do i get it to open maximized?... see, i resized this window one time while looking at one and typing in the other.
now i cant get the darn thing to open maximized.

i tried resizing it manually, maximizing i then closing and reopening hoping it remembered... but it didnt...

where do i find the setting for get it to open maximized again?
i saw it somewhere but i forgot. im runnin XP and IE6

thanx in advance

Actually, this is one of those "sounds really simple but no one really knows how to do it" questions. At least I don't, and I know for a fact I'm not a computer moron.

One extra step required... when maximizing a window, hold down shift key, then open another window ("open in a new window") from that original one, and maximize that window while holding down shift key. For good measure, open a third window from the second one, maximize while holding shift key. Now, close each window, starting with the last one opened, and hold the shift key while closing each one. That should do it.

Frustrating, isn't it?
Run regedit.
Back up your registry (standard precaution).
Edit the following key as follows:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"FullScreen"="yes"
Enjoy

Instead of holding down the shift key while MAXIMIZING your windows, do it while CLOSING your windows. Open IE, max the window, hold shift, close IE. Open IE again, it will be max'd...do the same when clicking links.

Oops-gave you the key for Fullscreen-not maximize.
The reg key that controls the initial size of IE when opened is :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"window placement"
to set it to open Maximized (assuming a screen resolution of 800x600) change the values as follows:
Change the 5th byte (00) to 02
Change the 9th byte (01) to 03
Change the 28th through 36th bytes to FF
Change the word starting at the 37th byte to 20 03 (320 in hex, 800 in decimal)
Change the word starting at the 41st byte to 3D 02 (23C in hex, 572 rather than 600. The taskbar is 28 pixels tall)

P.S.- I STRONGLY urge you to back up your registry before making ANY changes
