Problems with Easyacct

got a client that can't set up there new epson RX500 printer with EasyACCT(DOS based accounting) her old printer was an LPT1 type this one is a USB(only) printer. apperantly she hasn't updated the software in 4 years because "it costs $150 a year" i went in there and foound the right USB port and tried to set it up but nothing happened. I finally told them they could either get the updates or try to find a printer with a parrallell port. but thats pretty hard considering that they are apperantly fasing out LPT1 and going to USB. was my advice sound??

I've run into this one myself. The printer protcols are different between usb and lpt (I forget the ieee thing) If your customer wants to keep using the program she has the updates may work But she would prob be $ ahead to get a different printer.
If you look around you can find them. I just had to replace the network printer here and I found a Hewlett-Packard locally with both ports (usb and lpt) for less than $175.

she just payed $200+ for this all-in-one epson so the thing is if they get one they are only gonna get a cheap one like 20-30 just something exclusively for that program. they really need a separate computer for that stuff cause it doubles as a home system. and theyre 12 year old son likes to play on the computer so you know how that can go.
