Ummm..maybe it would be a good thing to inform him that he may need to prepare his motherboard to get it ready it to be flashed?
Many boards have a protective jumper that must be removed first..or maybe in the bios on some must be enabled for a flash to take place.
Clearing the CMOS just before a flash will help keep a bad flash from happening many times.
Not setting the board up properly for a flash will cause problems many times, and result in a dead board.
There are commands that can be used when flashing a bios rom chip...these commands help assure a good flash happens. here are some to look at, and the explanations can be found in the websites below.
awdflash.exe newbios.bin oldbios.bin /py /sy /cc /cp /cd /sb /r
Bottom line is, be knowledgeable and prepared. don't get in a rush..when a bad flash happens, the motherboard will be dead a long time.
