Help Connecting ATI 9800 to LCD...

I have an ATI 9800 Pro and have connected it to an NEC 1760NX LCD in analog mode. It works great in its max resolution of 1280 x 1024.

I just bought a DVI cable and hooked it up, but I got an error on the monitor saying 'signal out of range'. I then tinkered with things and realized that if I brought down the resolution to 1152 x 864, it worked - if I bring the screen resolution higher, it does not work.

My question is - how do I get to the higher resolution - I know that the monitor supports it. I have the latest ATI drivers (v3.9).

Any advice? TIA
