Digital camera repair - worth it or not?

I have a Kodak DC210 camera that is almost 6 years old.

Yesterday the zoom locked up and won't move and the camera shuts off about 30 seconds later (safety feature I guess).

When I bought the camera it was SOTA. 1 mega-pixel.

I'm assuming a gear has broken and jammed the zoom.

Anyone with experience on the cost of repairs to digital cameras?

Think I paid over $500 back in 98 for it.

Should I just bite the bullet and get a new one?

Thanks,

Bill

A Kodak camera with all the accessories would be about $99 now, batteries included! Shop around and $150 will get you 3 mp.

This is what I'm looking at:

http://instorespecials.staples.com/s...=&L1CatID=5453

Canon® A70
3.2 megapixel. Free 64 MB flash memory and accessory kit. For $299.

Going to use the 12% off coupon from the net which brings it down to $263.98 and then use my $50 American Express Rapid Rewards certificate which gets me to $213.98 plus tax for out the door @ $230.

Plus it comes with 16 MB card and the free 64 MB card and accessory kit.

Don't think I can do much better.
