Cisco Wireless and other Vendor PCMCIA adaptors?!?!

Hi Everyone!

I've got a quick Wireless question. Are there any problems associated with using hardware for a Wireless network from one provider (in this case, a Cisco Aironet 350 AP) and using Wireless PCMCIA cards from another (eg. Linksys, NetGear) etc.

I'd appreciate some advice.

I wouldn't think so, they all support the right protocol.

No, but the Cisco gear is going to be of higher quality. Of course the higher quality comes at a higher price.

They should all work with each other. I was using a Cisco Aironet 340 wireless card with a D-Link Wireless AP and it worked fine.

If you do have any connectivity issues, it will very likely be the short pre-amble. You can change it on the card or the AP. The cisco AP should default to a long pre-amble. Set it to short to work better with non Cisco client devices.
