Need Help with this pc i am fixing

Ok it is a older Compaq Presario. Probaly 3-4 yrs old. When I boot the computer up i see the same ugly a** compaq bios screen, then it prompts me for the boot up password. I type it in the password and then the keyboard locks up. Since i had the XP CD it said 'Press any key to boot from CD' and i press any key and nothing happens! The keyboard unlocks when the OS (Win98) Starts


Any Way to fix it?????


(PS I CANNOT GET INTO THE BIOS SETUP BECAUSE IT REQUIRES THE PASS BEFORE HITTING F10)

try pulling the battery or use the jumper to reset bios [which should wipe out bios password] then see if any adjustments in bios will fix you up
