Hey everyone,

Been getting BSOD's ever since I installed Call of Duty on my machine. I have had problems with them in the past, they usually seem to occur during very graphics-heavy applications. I am currently running a PNY Geforce 3 Ti-200, a Athlon 1700+ on a Gigabyte GA-7VRX with a single stick of Crucial DDR 2700 512megs, and a Sound Blaster Live Value. The errors I keep getting are

STOP: 0x0000050, and 7F

These errors DO NOT ever happen during normal usage in windows, just under Call of Duty. I have also had this problem in the past with Battlefield 1942 as well.

I have run memtest86 for 10 hours with no errors found, formatted my computer with a fresh copy of windows xp, and updated all my drivers to no avail.

Short of replacing my graphics card is there anything I can do? I get this sickening feeling that the card is bad, but I have no way to test it. Any reccomendations?

I think it's somethign to do w/ the card. I would try something besides the latest Detonators for it if you can find them. I seem to have problems w/ mine. I always get a BSOD on nv4_display.dll. I think the new drivers are a bit buggy as I never had these problems before but, the new drivers just might not like Server 2k3. So check those first and see if it helps.

Yup. Sounds like a video card/driver problem. It seems the older cards don't play nice with the newer drivers. Try using version 30.82 drivers with that GeForce 3. They seemed to offer the best between stability and performance with the older cards.

Hey, Atomic or somebody...I've got a question. I've got a GeForce2 Pro 64mb running on an nForce2 chipset on Server 2k3. What drivers do you reccomend? (I ask cause I most of the time use ATI products).

Sorry a little off topic,

embj,
I find it ironic that you have an avatar bashing MS saying that they want your money and yet you are running Sever 2003, Im sure that would have cost a lot to buy.
BTW what are you thoughts on this OS

Atomic Rooster:
So this is not a random problem? It's not uncommon for these older cards to get all screwy?

BTW, does it matter that Call of Duty requires DirectX 9.0b? Are the 30.82 drivers compatible with DX9.0b?

Thanks!

Joe F.

Correct skybolt_1, some of the older cards don't play nice with the newer drivers causing problems such as your's.

Those drivers should work fine with DX9.

Hey thanks for the advice, I played for 2 hours last night with the 30.82 drivers and didn't encounter any problems at all! Plus I was able to set my video settings far more aggressively.

You don't know how much better I feel - this has been a thorn in my side for like a year and a half!
