LCD brightness vs contrast

Guys have a question what is better in an LCD?
Brightness or Contrast.

At the moment I am looking at 2 LCDs:
Dell W1700 17" LCD TV
which has 450 nits and 400:1 Contrast Ratio
$689

UltraSharp 1901FP 19-inch
which has 250 nits and 600:1 Contrast Ratio
$611

Both have 25 ms response.

What do you guys think?
Or do you know of any other deals on LCDs which mach these specs for lower.

Honestly I don't really care if its 17,18 or 19" but I would not like to go lower then 17".

Thnaks alot

Opps, wrong thread, Mod please move it to the General Tech Discusion forum, and my deepest apologies.

Uh. THing is with lcd's. THe higher brightness the LESS contrast-no other way around it. The brighter the whites are the lighter the darks become as a result. What to look for? The highest contrast possible as that is the weak spot in lcd tech. The better contast the better lcd. Also look at responce time. Some people confuse what "responce timie" is. Its how quick the crystal switches form on (passing light) to off (blocking all light). THe higher-the less motion blurr. Consequently it helps contrast aswell.
