windows media player problem

my computer is winxp, at first when i use windows media player 8, everything is fine.. but i think it is after sometime after i installed windows media player 9, it starts to hv a black screen at the end of every video i played with it.. i tried to install Xvid plugins and divX 5.05 codecs but it wouldn't help.. i also tried uninstalling the player and then reinstalling it again but it didn't help as well.. i tried using other players like realone and the problem didn't occured.. for example.. i am playing a windows media format video that has a length of 10:39 mins, at 10:20, the screen will go black, but the music will still be playing tho.. another example is that i'm playing a avi file and at 6:39/6:59, the video will go black, but the music will still be on as well.. does anyone know how to solve this problem? thx very much ^^

What is probably happening is that when you go to open windows media player the computer is getting mixed up which player version to use. Try to uninstall the old version.

I don't know if this helps, but DVDXCopy causes media player to not work properly...

If you have DVDXCopy on your system uninstall it, that fixed my problem.

i don't know how to ininstall the old version.. i went to "control panel", then clicked on "add or remove programs", and then clicked "add/remove windows component" that's on the left column, and then after a box like this : http://img1.photobucket.com/albums/0...dd_remove1.JPG : popped up, i clicked on the windows media player check box and un-ticked it, then i clicked "next".. afterwards, i tried opening a video with windows media player and it still worked.. does anyone know how to solve this problem? thx ^^

and i don't think i have dvdxcopy in my pc.. thx for trying to help anyways ^^
