Ok, I have this stupid little brother who has like every toolbar ever made for IE, and he uses them all too. The problem is when I go onto my own user account on the computer, all his damn toolbars pop up when I open my IE. Is there a folder where these toolbars are kept, and is there someway I can delete them, or is there some option in IE where I can tell them not to open. All I want is my Google toolbar; not Yahoo Companion, SearchBar, My Web Search, Search Toolbar, etc.
lol sounds like not only do you ahve a problem with tool bars but might ahve issues with some spyware....yahoo companion should be easy enough to turn of it should have a prefferences setting as for the others I'd uninstall a few of them I don't think there would be one single folder holding them all they'd more than likely all be in seperate folders in the program files directory
i would say download adaware and spybot and run them cause i know some of those toolbars got spyware with em and that means you probably have tons of it. also a program called winpatrol can display the things that are added on to IE (like toolbars) and you can remove the ones you dont want. on the little brother issues i would say to ask why he uses them (if not good reason say get rid of it) or just uninstall them
I run adaware and spybot like every other day, lol. It seems when my brother logs on he makes a mess of the whole computer. I see some folders with this junk, but says I cant delete them....maybe I'll try again.
Ok, I resolved the issue all together. I got Mozilla for two reasons. I wanted to see if it would show this one website which wouldnt show on regular IE(which it does) and this was an added bonus that these toolbars dont show up anymore.
I'm glad I found those folders though, cause that freed up some space, regardless how little.
If any of you have "MyWebSearch" I suggest you get rid of it. It runs as MWSOEMON.EXE and if you open your task bar you can see that. Apparently its a program for someone to hijack your computer. Luckilly I talked to someone and got rid of it.
