Power supply for Asus A7N8X & Barton 2500

Alright, well, i'm pretty sure i have posted something like this before but some things have changed and xmas is coming up so this time it's serious. As for right now I have a 350w Allied PSU powering PC Chips M817 (w/ 1333mhz Althon). I want to upgrade to a asus A7N8X & barton 2500. Since I also have duel cathode's, 5 lighted fans, and some el wire, I think i'll also have to upgrade my power supply. When i went to look at newegg, i saw the allied 450w power supply. Looks good, well it said

Allied TRUE 450W Power Supply AL-B450EATX w/ Two Fans ***AMD APPROVED good to 2200+ *** UL, CSA, FCC Approved
Only up to 2200? Dam, will i have to settle with getting an Allied 500w? I really don't want to spend over 50 bucks. Omardeth, i know you really like that acheive power supply, but i'd like to settle with a big named company. I've already fried 2 power supply's with my current system.

Thanks all

I'm sure that power supply would be fine all the way up to 3200+ unless you are running a lot of drives at the same time, like a large RAID array.
When that spec was writen that was probably the biggest CPU. My Barton 2500+ with 2 SATA HD RAID 3 optical drives and a Zip only has a 400 watt Allied with room for at least another drive

it just says 2200+ because at the time it was manufactured, the most power hungry cpu was the 2200+... im sure it can handle the 2500+ or even an oc' to 3200+. the one thing you have to concern yourself with is how much wattage its putting out... and how stable the voltage rails are.

It'll be fine... I've got an 350 watt Enermax powering up a PC with:

Barton 2500+@3200+ (1.7 volts)
2x512MB Corsair XMS dimms (2.77 volts)
Radeon 9800 Pro
2 Cold Cathode lights
2 lighted system fans + 4 regular ones
DVDRW
DVD ROM
7200 RPM 8MB Cache Western Digital HDD
5 PCI Cards
