Systems Am I Trojaned?

Hi!
My computer has been acting up lately, Mainly hanging, stalling and locking. For example the computer had just finished loading Win98SE and it locked up. I've read in the post AVG or NAV. that one of the symptoms of a trojan is a need to shut down the computer manually. The internet connection is also stalling, even when the page is already halfway thru loading.
I used to have NAV2002 but it just seemed to be content to sit and soakup resources. I now have PC-cillin 2000 on the computer and it seems to be a little bit more active, but there are no changes. So which is a better choice for locating a hidden trojan, NAV2002, PC-cillin2000, AVG or another?
Thanks for any of your responses.

Try this:

The Cleaner

Free for 30 days and they have frequent updates to the database.

Helped me out a couple of times.

Bought it.

And if any one of the anti-virus programs you have loaded stall, try this little goody:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger

You don't have to install it. You can run it off a floppy if you wanted too.

I've had the experience with certain viri that if you try to install let's say AVG, and you already have a certain virus that will attack virus programs and you have to re-boot to finish the install of AVG, the virus may kill your installation of AVG. Stinger works as a stand alone from either a floppy or HDD. Pretty cool little helper.

Cheers!

Hi!
Thanks for the responces. I've already have SBS&D & Ad-aware.
I'll check out those links.
One question, do online scanners work well with Dial-up with speeds @16800bps
Thanks.

Hi!
Ok I checked out those links, I then downloaded stinger, and ran it. it took a while to scan but it didn't say that it found anything .
After looking at the different trojan hunters I found that (For me) they were either expensive or underpowered. as a student I'm limited with funds for these things. I know that the chances would be rare to find a program thats powerful and is free (Free also, meaning free of spyware!) but is there any out there?
Also I'll ask this question again. Do online scanners work well with Dial-up with speeds @16800bps?
Thanks!
