Try TOTALLY uninstalling the video card by going into Safe Mode and changing your vid adapter to Standard PCI Graphics Adapter. While in Safe Mode check Add/Remove Programs to remove any nVidia listings there as well. Reboot to normal and update the PCI graphics card with the new nVidia drivers you want to use. The only thing I've found when updating nVidia drivers is that even using this method which is the right way to do it doesn't always work cause it'll ask for a driver file that is not in the newest bach of files.
