Cooked My Nvidia 5700 Ultra GPU :( need advise!!

Well, It finally happened! I fired up my computer and was unable to play unreal! Just watching the Intro to Unreal, within a minute or two, the Whole system would become unstable "plaid screen" and crash. If I cought it in time, I would check the GPU temp instantly on the desktop and it would read 55*c. Nothing would play longer then a minute before becoming Unstable. Took it back to the Store, where I had it installed a little over two weeks ago, and they replaced it with a brand new one. I have no doubt that I fried the GPU.

Question?

How can Avoid this Occurance again? Is the 5700U cooling design upgradable??????

I,ve seen Aftermarket GPU heatsinks /w fans, but I already have a fan. Would an Aftermarket fan/heatsink for the Nvidia 5700 Ultra cure the Problem of Overheating? I so, Which one would be the highest performer in terms of cooling for this type of card.

It seems to me that all Nvidia Graphic cards suffer from Overheating issues. Why doesn't Nvidia spend more time in their R&D facilities and come up with a better Cooling design for their Mainstream video cards?
