I was looking at the trailer and it seems like an improved version of midnight club however the graphics are distinguishable. I might rent it and if i like it ill buy it. Im counting on your word man! If i dont like it you owe me five bucks.

haha
well i dont usually like need for speed... or any other driving game
the only ones that caught my eye were Grand turismo and midnight club II
this one will be the third... its similar to midnight club... but u dont get to drive around the city freely... i like that it has all the big brand names.. like NISSAN, HONDA, TOYOTA... etc...
my fav is drag racing... pretty nice how they made it...

I haven't tried it myself yet, but from what I've seen, I'm not impressed. But then again, the only Need For Speed that has managed to impress me was #5, Porsche Unleashed.
Like the Fast and the Furious movies, Underground is about attaching huge spoilers, bumpers and snow shovels to Asian and small European cars and racing them at night (the racers probably work at the factury during the day). If this is your thing, you'll love Underground, despite the dumbed down racing experience and racing through the same city over and over again.

Good but still lacking
I got Underground after reading some reviews and thought I had a great game. It is a good game but they could have made it a lot better.
First off, there is no lan multiplayer so just forget using it as a Lan party game. Multiplayer is online only.
Second, the car upgrades are generic. The game says you can upgrade your cars with all these parts like AEM, Injen, Momo, and lots of others. But once you start playing you realize that you can only upgrade certain parts during certain parts of the game and the upgrades are basically like engin upgrade number 1. It's not like you choose the Injen Cold air intake and it gives you more horse power than the AEM. Which engin upgrade you choose will make no difference.
Now the driving in the game is great. Very playable. Racing is fun and the different events are ok. The maps are good and the cities look fantastic.
If you don't mind the no Lan thing and the generic upgrades go for it.
Now Midnight Club 2 is also a very playable game. Rockstar didn't add the upgrade feature (therefore didn't screw it up). Some friends and I played MC2 over the lan at our last party and it was pretty fun. Battle mode was a great added feature.
MC2 isn't a perfect game either. None of the cars have real names and the city isn't as good as Underground but overall it is more playable and is a better game for me, though I must admit, I haven't played Underground online.

I didn't ever like MC2, the cars were too unrealistic, have you seen have fast you can swerve around the corner! It's unbelievable.

Yeah, the cars aren't realistic. Yeah, the physics aren't realistic. But it's fun and you can play over a lan. No lan play is the option that really sunk the boat for me on Underground.
MC2 is an over-the-top racing game. Nothing is realistic, you crash at 150mph into a semi and then just keep on racing. But I guess Underground lets you crash at 100+ and keep on racing too.
If a racing game was actually realistic, no one would want to play.

It's not that it's unrealistic, i mean it's virtually un playable.
The first car you get can swerve mad-fast around corners, what's with that? You swerve so fast it's damn near impossible to sort it out right.

Well underground let's you crash at 190mph and continue playing. That is, if you're not in drag event.
I've crashed to a lane separator at 190mph |
