Fire Walls and Routers

Yea.. MY Router is annoying! wont let me use my web cam for certain things... how do i turn off firewall completely?
i hear you have to modify all these numbers and proxys and blah blah but i dunno what those mean...
can anyone gimme the link to a site that explains how fire walls and routers work?

Also the manufacturer said that the router starts off with the default of no fire wall on.. but my access to web cam chats on certain sites is limited prolly due to a fire wall...

anyone now how to fix this??

or can give me a site that teaches that kinda stuff??

thanks IMO!

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ Why not open the port your cam needs? No firewall is a large risk, don't ya think?

Yes check you settings, that shouldn't be happening.

If OS is XP check the XP firewall setting too

internet explorer has a firewall in it also, you may have to disable that firewall and use the router as a firewall. When did this all happen, is it a new router? did you have problems before the router was installed? Maybe there are some settings for the router that need a look at...? I personally don't have a router, but I use 2 seperate firewalls. I do not reccomend disabling your firewalls....bad move.....

see above..beat me to the post....

You'd be surprised how many people would love access to your computer.

As well, you might want to check the FAQ regarding permitted language on this site.

7418 intrusions have been blocked and 10 have been high rated...since reformating my system on 12-4-2003 and installing zone alarm...Plus also using trend pccillion as a firewall also...

somthing to think about when you say you don't think your pc won't be intruded.
