XP drive lettering??
Im not sure how I did it, but I had 2 drives in this xp pro build I just did....

Building a backup server...so I want the small drive as c: to hold the xp install...then the larger drive, 14g in this case, to be for storing the backups for my lan. (mainly just for learning batch files etc right now)

Anyway, the primary master is the 8g drive....I was under the impression I built xp on it....but somehow it got to be the d: drive??? and the 14g one is the blank c: drive...how did I do that??? lol


How do I fix it? Will I have to also mess with the boot.ini file?

you should be able to go to drive management and change the drive letters

why do you think it did that in the first place? I even think when I installed it that the second drive was off in the bios, lol. And the drive that xp called "d:" shows up as master on bios screens, lol

With the slave disconnected does it still show up as D?
