Systems can I use BIOS flash from floppy disk?

I got a Shuttle AN35 Ultra board.....that's Ultra for Ultra pain in the ass. No video, no post, no beeps. Was working with CPU, vid card and RAM and HDs and CD drives...forgot to upgrade with clean formatted HD, changed a BIOS setting while dealing with inaccessible boot device BSOD, and blam!

I may have a corrupted BIOS or I may have a bad component, either CPU, RAM or video card. I'll be getting them tested on Monday.

Q: Assuming my components turn out to be good and it's the mobo, and given that everything from holding down insert key to pulling the CMOS battery overnight to doing the clear CMOS jumper waltz didn't work....

....can I use a specially scripted autoexec.bat file that instructs the system to use awdflash.exe and install the latest BIOS which is in ROM format only from shuttle? to force an update from the floppy disk?

....or would the system have to be able to POST or__________ in order for the system to recognize the floppy drive?

When can you use a BIOS flash from floppy, and when can you not?

Unless your board has a dual BIOS or some kind of BIOS backup, a failed flash usually means you can't boot to a floppy to flash again. You then have to change the BIOS chip.

Send a message via Yahoo to Dax_Brandy
if your board is under warranty still, have it replaced. in the first place, i think the mobo is defective.
