It sure will.

I think the Abit board got some mighty good reviews, so I wouldn't worry about anything being better. There are a couple other boards in that price range, the Epox 8RDA and the Asus A7N8X. I own an A7N8X and it's a great board, but all the Abit board I've ever had in past (exclusively until now) were great boards.

What you need to look at nowadays for the newer athlons is the fsb..or "front side bus".....the NF7 says it does up to a 333mhz fsb....so it should work with bartons that use up to a 333fsb....of course the 333 is really 166x2 so it may be listed like that.

So if you look at the bartons you see that some have 333fsb and some have 400fsb....its alil confusing cuz amd sometimes has two different cpus with the same name..for instance they have two barton Xp3000+ listed..one has 333fsb and one has 400fsb.

And if you look at abits site they have a compatability list here and it lists up to a xp2700...so for SURE a barton 2700+ will work and MAYBE up to the 3000+ with the 333 fsb...its possible that abit just hasnt updated the list yet.

JP

Oh yeah, I agree with Whir that Abit boards are great..frankly they are some of the best built boards and almost always some of the best overclockers...that means they are very stable etc.

Since you plan on overclocking for picking the Abit(?) Make sure you get the 2.0 PCB revision for the NF7-S! That makes it support the 400 MHz FSB chips, like the 3200+.

I got my Abit NF7-S from Monarch because they explicitly stated it'd be v2.0 . Now I don't know about Newegg so I can't tell you.

From what I see on the Nforce2 market, ABit is reigning champ because of this mobo
AN7 it's got the uGuru, and all those wicked cool features in the newer boards, the uGuru is like the CoreCell on MSI boards.

Newegg has the AN7 board, just an fyi.

i got my NF7-S from monarch too (best price i found)
dont get a 3000+ get a 2500+ and raise the fsb to 200mhz (400) and you get a 3200+. you might need something more than the stock cooler but you're still going to save over $100 so you can use some of that to get an NF7-S instead of the NF7 and get a good cooler (like the thermalright slk947u)

Yea, when I got my NF7-S it was a couple of dollars cheaper than Newegg, those couple of dollars have come a long way...

I liked my Abit NF7-S so much I got another one. I think I got them from gameve.com. Came in 3 days.

I had some good mobos, but this one is awesome.
