Hey,

how far has anyone pushed a 2600+....i tried today and only managed 2700+ and it would restart itself when in windows!

im not sure what i did, but it was in BIOS.

now my mobo (gigabyte GA-7VA) has an overclocking utility but doesn't allow me to change the multiplyer i think

Specs:
mobo : gigabyte GA-7VA
cpu : 2600+ 333fsb
ram : 512ddr 2700

any help or tips would be great

thx
-Daniel

If your chip is newer than week 39 ( i think) it's multiplier locked fromthe factory. My 2500 barton's locked, but I just put some 400 mhz ram in there and cranked it all the way up.. Running without a hitch.
Your bottleneck is the ram. You can't overclock the cpu b/c the ram won't handle it.

i think beginning with week 39 they started locking the multipier on some chips and by week 43 all chips were multiplier locked.

i've got my 2600+ at 3200+ speed (11x200) and i've not had any problems. i've got pc3200. one thing you'll want to watch is your temp. mine's 28C (idle) but i've got a thermalright slk947u heatsink and 92mm fan. you may have to increase the voltage if it's unstable.
