HD not showing up

Hey I am wanting to back up my moms important files like once a week. I put in an old 6gb hd I have and I booted to windows and it at the bottom right of the screen it says new hardware, disk drive detected etc. I go to the device manager and it shows its there but it isn't showing up in my computer....

Any ideas??
TY

Have you checked the drive in disk management?

Right click on My Computer > click on Manage > then click on Disk Management.

If the drive is there right click on it and choose > Format.

K that worked..now how do I set up like an auto-back up for like once a week??

I know how to set it up so it is auto backup but how do I choose certain files to be backed up?? I only need a few to be backed up not my whole hard drive. The drive that I'm backing up to is 4gb and my master drive is 80gb.

Glad to help!

At this point I'd start a new thread as I am by no means a "backup" guru!

Bill

EDIT: I type slow.
