Power Supply

I was looking to buy a new power supply and when I saw some listed online some said for P4s. Will theses psus work with AMD also or just Intel chips?

Thanks,

Jutah

Yes they will also work for AMD, P4 just means it has this power connector that P4 motherboards need.

they will work just fine with amd.....p4 compatable means it has an extra four prong plug which is required for p4 mobo's....extra power...12v + and 12v- ....direct to the board

i have one on my psu and i found they make great power taps for extra fans...lol

AMD boards have started to use that 4 pin 12volt connector also.
My Abit NF7-S has one.

Yeah, I noticed that some AMD boards have the 4-pin connector. Does anyone know why?

yea....it powers the "INTELBOT 3000" which constantly checks for non-intel cpus and destroys them....or if it finds an intel chip it defends the system(to the death if needed) against intrusions from "incompatable" hardware ie:amd cpu's............................or i may have been up too long too so........u deside......LOL

On most of the power supplies I've seen there is a six wire conector. 3 black,2orange and 1 red. Is that conector for an AMD type MoBo???
