SB 24 bit Creative Audigy - Win2kpro

Fellow Members:

I had integrated sound installed uninstalled and, which I disabled (unjumpered): IWill XP333 mobo.

I installed Audigy, great 24 bit sound but "Improper install - Reinstall Message" message came up 2x. After 2nd attempt, my screen went dark ... unloaded in SafeMode: Matrox Parhelia must not care for SB software, as all runs if I only load SoundBlaster drivers. But all cool utilities (mixer, etc.) that came bundled with Creative Audigy 24 Bit card seem not to load w/o killing my Matrox vidcard.

I noticed I still have "Legacy" drivers installed, Voice/Fax Modem, and likely leftover integrated sound drivers still installed ...

Running Win2KPro with SP4.

Any ideas?

Thx.

No, not really sometimes sound cards dont get a long with video cards. Try moving the sound card to another PCI slot just for the heck of it.

besides looking at both of those websites you might try a different pci slot perhaps.

I would but it as far away from the video card as possible. My Audigy 2 PLatinum is in the last PCI slot and works fine.

Rand: Are you (also) using a Matrox vidcard by any chance?

Thx.

My Fellow Members:

I finally figured out a solution. My difficulties were not with any hardware conflict between my Audigy sound card and my Matrox video card. Rather, the difficulty seems to have been a software conflict. The "trick" in my case was simply to load the drivers with my sound card, and not load the software "stuff" that came with the sound card. Bottom-line: is this 24-bit sound card works fine.

I appreciate all your suggestions!

Thanks!
