WinXP, partitions, 2hdd

Well, I'm putting together a budget gaming system w/ AXP1700+, ECS k75sa, 512MB PC133, GF3 TI200, and 2qty 6.4GB 5400RPM seagate hdd.

Since I have 2 rather slow HDD, and no raid controller, I want to know whats the most efficient way to install XP, set the swap file, and install games (specifically bf1942) so that level load times are at a minimum.

For example, i was going to create 2 partitions on one hdd, the first would be 1.6GB for the swap, and the 2nd would take whatever is left for the OS. The 2nd HDD would be one large partition and I would install the games onto that drive.

Will this work and is it going to be the fastest. I've never used more than one HDD at a time before so I'm only guessing here.

get u a cheep raid card for like $20, lol.

Maybe one thing to remember also is that evidently the IDE drives run at the speed of the slowest thing on the cable...so whatever is on the cable with the cdroms will run at ata33

then again, with the 2 drives together only one of them can use the cable at once etc....

Maybe check out some gaming forums cuz they probably answer this q all the time.

I suggest one drive for os and the second drive for games and extra swap file. This way your computer isnt constantly accessing the OS and the swap file at the same time.
