xp pro user help

Ok here is the problem.
When I am logged in as Administrator and add a new local user with administrator rights. the user really doesnt have any rights.
He can't add any programs or even change his desktop.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can this be changed in GPEdit.

Why not just add that user to the administrator's group? Is this a local or network login?

something tells me youre not adding the group to the user. its a tiny bit of a different step in XP as opposed to 2000. look the the users "members of" tab and click "add" , then click advanced as in the picture here and select "advanced" then " find now"

you will get a listing of all the groups. select which one you want (administrator), hit ok, ok, then apply.

p.s. sorry about the distracting cleavage, it wasnt my fault!

It is on an nt 4 network. I was adding a new local user giving local admin rights.

SD I believe i did as you said. but I will have to check.
The login script for the network doesnt set any local permmissions. Just maps drives.
Tks
