Dooin' it is on a distinguished road
Windows Power Management Options fading and/or disappearing???????

I should be in bed right now, but before I go, here's one of those things that just bugs me & probably shouldn't.......anyway.......

ControlPanel>PowerManagement..........Here's what works all the time:

1.) "Shut off monitor"

Here's what works some of the time:

1.) "shut off harddisks"
2.) "standby"
3.) "hibernate"

Ever since 98 I notice that sometimes the computers will follow instructions & some times they won't! Only way I can get pc's to obey completely is by elmination & thus have found that selecting "never" on everything but "standby" & then enter "1 minute" for "standby" will, in fact, make the computer "standby"......BUT......only if there is absolutely NOTHING else running. This is what I usually see (not always, but usually) from 98 to SE to ME to XP! What the heck gives??

Lastly, (I love this one) I recently checked a buddy's system that I built with WinME (circa' 2 year ago) and while I'm 99.9% certain it was there before, his "hibernate" is now gone! He hasn't run out of disk space to support hibernate, he hasn't opted to disallow that option.........it's just GONE!! The whole window & drop-down menu are GONE!! Again, this probably won't bother me in the morning, but it does now & I'm reeeeeally tired!!

Anyway.........have at it!! Love to hear thoughts/opinions!
