Need SSL Certificate

Hey all,

A group of friends and myself are doing a website that is going to have online credit card processing. We want to get an SSL certificate but dont know much about it. Where would you recomend to buy one from? I see they can be quite pricey and we are on a limited budget. Thanks.

I'm curious myself. I thought they were all like $125/year.

I saw a site selling them for $50, another site selling it for $150, and verizon selling it for almost $1000. We are not even sure if we need one.

You need one if you are going to do SSL. You can create your own, but users will get a warning that it is not issued by a trusted person.

Both Linux and Windows (servers) have the ability to become a Certification Authority and issue them. But the commercial ones require you to give proof of who you are and such to verify identity.
