Final Fantasy XI....a bomb?
Well I have loved the FF series ever since FF2 for SNES. I was at Best Buy yesterday buying Pirates of the Caribbean and was parusing the game section (cause its been MONTHS since I bought a game...sad really) and I saw that it had been released. FFXI is the online game based upon the FF universe. It sounded like a good idea but it has received about 0 advertising from what I have seen and it just never has been talked about really.
Whats the deal? Is it any good...is it a bomb? I am anti-pay-for-play games so Im never really gonna buy it but its kinda sad to see Square-Enix produce such a crapper. Heck I've been playing FF Tactics Advance for almost 30 hours and still haven't even scratched the surface!

It's not a bomb if it is currently the second biggest massive multiplayer out right now behind EverQuest. And believe it or not its not far behind from that either.

FFTA - very cool game. Would even be a cool game on a full size console. What's your favorite job? Also, have you tried Tactics Ogre?
I've heard FFXI is fun, but like other MMORPG, it has annoying parts. Depends on how well you handle dying in a game.

I have not been able to find tactics ogre on sale at any of the local video game stores. I remember it from SNES (Ogre Battle) and it was freakin cool there. I suppose I could get it online but its like $45!!! Expensive for a GBA game IMO.
My fav job so far has to be the Templar or Dragoon. I like the fact that they can attack with the spear from 2 squares away. I also really like the monk/fighter class because the Air Render skill is just ridiculously fun to poke at people from afar

personally, FFXI is a very well designed game, that appeals to the EQ crowd and draws some fresh blood from the FF lovers. I got the game cuz i love final fantasy, and have never tried a MMORPG. The game doesnt have a solid story line like the other FFs, but it does have one if you do all the quests... its also fun to just lvl up, and you can choose from a somewhat wid range of jobs and subjobs (with appropriate quests) also, there are plenty of people out there, they have almost 20 servers i believe... and everyone is always looking for a white mage

I have a thread in this section i think that displays the multiple levels of how this game is pure CRAP! for anyone who isn't already addicted to evercrack.
I was new to the pay-to-play world, I bought it, I played it, and I was completly lost. The world, the interfae, the fact that It takes more than 1:00 to go from the game to your desktop. Really bad when u need to leave NOW!
The learning curve is kinda like Mt. Everest.

Try to get the katana Nosada, and the Ninja class. High level Thieves are cool too.
I had to look a long time for Tactics Ogre, still paid $40 and considered it worth it. It's like FFTA, but alot deeper gameplay.
