Problems Ripping From External Sources

I am using a component stereo receiver, phonograph, and dual drive audio cassette deck.

Line Out of the receiver hooked to Line IN of computer.

I can only record from the cassette. I can't seem to record/line rip from either the tuner or phono. It should, if it can do the cassette because it's the same line to the audio in my computer. I do set the source correctly on the receiver.

Not going through the receiver, it does the (audio) for external devices just fine (VCR/DVD) and even looping for the TV tuner.

Any ideas?

can you plug something like headphones into the line out to make sure it's actually sending audio along there when phono is selected?

I would think it's on the receiver end of things, the computer really shouldn't care, as long as it's sending audio.

I was a doofus. I have two line outs. I had my line outs backwards. I got it straightened.

I have so many cables, I actually need them to be different colors. Maybe I should just label them.

I use my stereo for my computer audio. When I'm sending a signal to the computer, I'm just hearing the signal to the speakers.

I should have pluged my headphones into the computer to check to see the signal was actually going to the computer.
