That should give the general gist that the Geforce is basically better. If I had a choice i would go for the Geforce 4.

Hope that was helpful

NO WAY!!!!!! If you plan on playing any new and upcoming games optimally get a 9600....wait...you said 9000?!?!?! the 4200 will tear the 9000 apart....shoe would be on the other foot if it was 9600 vs 4200 tho. Just get a 9600np, if you can get one cheap (mine was $70, $95 B4 MIR) it would rock. Mine OCs to 9600Pro performance (424/520) nicely

Welcome to TechIMO!!!!

I think it depends on how much money you want to spend. There is about a $40 difference between the 9000 Pro and the Ti4200 with the 9000 Pro being cheaper.

Also, you will most likely only see a difference in benchmarks and not in actual gameplay. Even at 1024x768, the ATI card performs good. And at that those settings, if you can get around 60fps in heavy action, you will not notice the difference if you were getting 100fps.

So what it really boils down to is personal preference. I have always liked ATI cards over Nvidia. ATI is also known for having sharper images than Nvidia, which i like when i am not playing games.

So, it is up to you. I dont think that you will be disapointed with either purchase.

By the way, what is your current hardware setup that you will be adding this card to?

Skip em both get a Radeon 9100...It's the perfect in between. A tiny bit more then the 9000 (seriosly like $5 more) with the same image quality and its only a hair slower then the Ti 4200. Or if you can find an 8500 128 (non-LE) with BGA ram those are very nice....

9100 is cheaper, found one at the egg for 51.75, granted it was a refurb but still 128-MB DDR. and a New 9100 is only $70.

Also a new 4200 is $135 and a new 9100 is $70, so for half the price you get 80-90% of the performance and stable drivers. Hmmm. Also a 9600np is cheaper and better for future games and is competitive w/ the 4200 in current games.
