Photoshop Professional Look

Heya all,
I have a mate that wants something made for him that will be placed in peoples mailboxes as an advertisement.

It needs to be professional looking (don't worry I am mkaing not not trying to scab off you guys :P)

Yes it needs to be professional, but the only things I have made in photoshop are way out there sort of things that are not suitable for a professional advertisement. Can yous please give me an idea on where to start and what to aim for, for making it look professional and suitable?

Thanks

PastranA

You're a little vague.
Type of business
Size of brochure/flyer

Contact the printhouse when you are almost ready for printing and ask for particulars on image size's and what not. They will charge for any custom editing that you might have been able to do yourself.

Cheers!

Yeah sorry I was a little vague, It's to advertise a computer business he is doing. He wants to have a 'Techie' theme about it.
But it needs to be appealing and look professional. I am pretty sure the size of it will be 540x745 pixels. I'm just not totally sure where to start, and what I ahould be aiming for.

One page flyer?
Folded Flyer?

If he doesn't already have a company logo, work on one with him. This is what people will recognise over time.

Place some bullited lines of what he is up to.

Place a Tech Tip on the page. Something that is common to most folk’s computers these days.
EG:
Virus Warning!
Many computers are being infected with viruses that are hard to detect and harmful to your computer and data.
(Description of what a virus is here)
The world of computers is getting very complicated to the home user. If you find your computer is acting a little strange you may need a technician that is qualified to handle such things.

Spyware Bogging You Down?
Now a days it's really hard not to get some kind of spyware automatically installed on your computer while loading games or just browsing the NET.
(Description of what spyware is here)
A simple servicing can remove the spyware from your computer and get your Internet moving fast once more.

List the tech's credentials.
List the tech's abilities.

Include something personal such as, "Hope to hear from you soon" or "Don't hesitate to call"

Cheers!
