"but I wonder if the keyboards have gotting any better and if they have a dual unit. Ya know both the mouse and the keyboard use the same reciever. "

Funny you mention that. Mine is dual ch. It does both the mouse and keyboard on one AM RF reciever! I only have the mouse though. Not sure if they must match or just both be RF wireless. Im assuming just RF and they use std. channel of freq. Dont use IR whatever you do-they are so bad.....

Have a look at these - dont know if you can get them in the
USA, but I bought 15 of these for our small office network and
they're excellent, only £4.43 each. Actually, we also have the
alternative model, the Chic 1330, which is identical in shape to
the Microsoft one, which I have at home. The one in the picture,
the Chic 1300, is slightly fatter, and IMO less comfortable, but
they're both the same price.

They don't sound too good.. at least the reviewers said it had a very hard click and felt cheap.

Yep. I like the soft quiet click.....but its not loose feeling just soft spring. M$ keyboards have a certain feel too. Dont know what it is?

Well, they are good. I have the Microsoft Optical Wheelmouse
at home, and it's no better than the Chic ones. In fact, I'm
going to get a couple of the Chic mice, as they have handy
4th and 5th buttons, which browse back and forward when
you're on the internet. I miss that when I go home from
the office.

thats pretty standard now. Logitech-Microsoft and Chic? Have it. Plus about 10 other off brand ones. Its how they "feel" that takes utmost importance. And since everyones taste and HANDS are diff-thats gonna vary greatly.

I have the Logitech-built, M$ mouse, available HERE at Newegg. I use it for gaming, surfing, and for just general computing. the thumb ball takes about a week to get used to, with some stretching of the thumb required, as it can be tiresome after three hours of Counter-Strike.
I highly recommend it. I just flick my thumb and it sets the ball rolling...perfect for whipping my CS character around quickly or moving the cursor from one section of the screen to another quickly.
the mouse itself sits stationary on the desk, while the ball is read by an optical sensor.
I've had mine for 3 years, no problems. it is a ps/2 mouse, but comes with a USB adaptor plug, which fits right on the cord. the color of the mouse is black.

~Branson

*edit: I'm a tall guy...6'2" and consequently my hands are big. this mouse is one of the largest i've seen, and is ergonomic as well. I really got tired of using pint-sized mice...my hand would cramp up really fast! *end of edit

Just got my MX300 from Fry's for $15.. works very nicely.. gone are the problems with scrolling and cursor trembling! Every button including the wheel mouse click is near silent. Haven't installed MouseWare yet though.. and i'm running on the PS/2 connection. Should i use usb instead?

USB takes more pc resources but not much with todays pc's. More bandwidth though over ps port-so duel opticial mice like it. Makes it move smoother. Higher scan rate.
