Bah - Screw D2, NWN, etc

Well, Im tired of reading threads about games that are out of the loop so to say. I've decided to write for your flaming pleasure a brief in the history of a MMORPG gamer...if that is even a correct term by todays standars. Read at your own risk, vomit, dysphoria, premature ejaculation may insue.

BBS - bought be a copy of wildcat, had me a nice 28.8 modem which was pretty hot at the time considering the standard 14.4s that were running rampant. Had LOTRD (Legend of the Red Dragon) door game hooked up as it was my favorite, even if it was really lacking in terms of D&D type interaction.

Inet - Damn the INet...it killed the BBS star, I'm sure theres some older folks out there who can understand where I'm coming from, BBS days were the best time in user2user history. Started playing some muds through my shell account, and damn I was amazed at the depth through which some of these MUD's (multi-user dungeon) went into.

EQ - Ahh..along came satan himself, bearing gifts of gold, glory, and male gratification.

(Yeah I skipped UO, for the time, I would later visit it around 2002 at which time I made poison muffins to lay randomly on the ground in hopes some fool was hungry.)

EQ provided me with hours upon hours upon hours of MINDLESS entertainment, I can't even remember the last time I dropped playing EQ to pleasure myself. I remember my first character a dwarf cleric on Fenin Ro, got him to 50 (the lvl cap at the time) and about wet myself the first time I got my first plain of fear item (Etheral Myst Graves, may god have mercy on my soul for remembering such things). After I did a little self-relction (RL is a bitch) I decided to quit, yep I donated my gaming scraps to the Ebay gods where I got a whopping $550 US...not bad considering I had already sold a rubicite breastplate for $250 to some dude in FL (Yes, hell has my number).

AC - Asheron's Call - damn Asheron an his call of EVIL..EVIL I say!!! It was like the answer to EQ addiction, I sware man!!! I made like a 65 Item/Life Archer and killed everything from Olthi to rabbits and yep...I eventually sold that account to for about $500. That was back in the days mind you. I then decided to try Darktide, cause Hell as my witness I was not going back to EQ...(not yet at least). Got me an archer to about 35 and said to hell with getting my ass handing to me at every lifestone.

Back to EQ - damn Sony..and damn Verant...I found myself once again falling victim to the whims of Norrath. Decided to make a rogue....Gnome rogue at that, short, sassy, and damn sexy. Was the first gnome rogue on Fenin to hit 65, was a damn proud moment down in Selibis....err if that was what is was called, can't really remember. Finally held in there for the long haul and got my Ragebringer and a couple pieces of Mylorkor. Think this was about the time the like 3rd, 4th...whatever X-pac came out and all new **** was coming out like better stuff than Trakanon drops. Said to hell with it an sold my ACC. yet once again for around $600.

Diablo II - Easiest money I ever made, after EQ 2nd time around I gave D2 a try and found there is a sucker born every minute, unlike EQ, anyone could get whatever equipment they wanted if they invested the time, regardless of connections. Can't even remember how many items I sold on ebay. Finally pawned off my 92 barb an items for like $200 and said to hell with MMORPG forever.

boy was I wrong...

DAOC - Well, my bro bought the game an I though what the hell ( besides the fact I was going into serious MMORPG withdrawal) ...got hooked. Made me a 50 dwarf beserker in like a couple month and ended up selling on ebay for like $250 because I was fed-up with the end game...run to Emain...get zerged..die...rinse...repeat.

DAOC - got bored, came back, made a 50 warrior since surely they are on the path to righteousness since they were like the most underpowered class in the game....yeah they finally got a few props but were still nothing but RP cows....sold it as well.

SB - Finally the savior to my anguish, PVP, city destruction, total player control, I loved it. I killed, I built, I rebuilt, I died, was without a doubt the greatest MMORPG to date. Unfortunatly the Carebear to PVPer ratio is a large one like 5 to 1. So again I screwed...I had found my game but unfortuntaly it was tailored to a select few of the gaming community...those that could deal with death and loss.

Now - Friends trying to get me to play FFXI but after observing it I realize its just a copy of EQ with only graphical modifications

The word - If you can't reep revenge on the person that stole your kill, took your camp, or cybered your Ho without your consent then there better damn be a way to retaliate...

Enjoy and flame away.

somebody has WAYYYY too much time on their hands...
You need a job or something

agreed D2 is not a MMORPG, its only 8 players at a time
Its not like EQ or UO where you can see anybody in the "world" that you're in during the game.
