My first post using a new OS !!

Well,

I finally got Mandrake 9.2 setup on my box.. Looking at techimo through Mozilla at the moment.. (text is a little strange though)

I could not get the onboard LAN connection to work, (nforce2 chipset, So I put in a linksys card) but otherwise its up and running...

It did pickup the firewire card....

Now its time to play around a bit and see what else I need to configure...

But ... so far I like

You can enable your nForce-2 LAN controller by setting the system's BIOS setting "PNP OS Installed" to off and installing the latest Linux nForce Driver.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0261

Otherwise, great to see everything else is working! I am always glad to welcome a fellow Mandrake user.

One note, give Opera a try for your web browser, as tweaking the text settings in Mozilla can be quite annoying.

Ahhh..

I installed the newest linux driver.... but I did not change anything in the BIOS....

May be that was the trick I missed

I'll have a look at Opera , I have heard from a few people and said they liked it.... I might give it a shot...

I really want to try to wean myself off Microsoft... I know there will be the case where I have to use it.... But , for me.... the less the better...

Through all of the frustration of learning a new OS.... I like the challenges...... Now.... are you guys up for the support I know I'll need

Make sure you install all the fixes.

To get the fonts looking sweet, just install the "msfonts" package.

Here are my settings for Mozilla fonts .........
