explorer.exe is infected by some worm

OK a friend of mine has a computer and his explorer.exe has been infected by a worm what should he do??

Hes running XP norton couldnt do anything with it so i uninstalled norton and got AVG. AVG found another virus and got rid of it but the explorer worm remains.

have you tried going into safe mode and runing antivirus?

i dont know off hand what its called i dont have the sytem here id have to wait till i have it in my possession again
