Video card seriously damaged lol

Recently I my old monitor burned out.
I purchased a new one but it had seriously problems. Resizing on different white/black colors, flickering darkness when too much is going on in the screen (Simcity 4), etc etc.

I thought it was the monitor that was causing that. I returned it but could only get the item of the same price. So I bought another one. (1st: Envision 910e 2nd: Envision 985e).

But the 985e did the exact same thing as the other one. I was starting to get pissed. So I thought my sisters monitor (HP m50), and it did the exact same thing. So it dawned on me. Maybe when my old monitor burned out, it must have some how sent a electric shock to my video card (Geforce 4 Ti4200 128MB), thus causing the not quite correct colors, and the resizing at different colors.

Well I got wait til I can get enough money to buy a new video card (ATI radeon 9600XT), til then I gotta use this defective video card.

Crap. Sister came home, tried it on her computer. Does the same damn thing! I don't know what else is causing it? Could it be the electricity in my apt? Christ this is annoying. Could windows xp be doing something to it? Like a feature or something? I guess I could live with it, but I'd just rather not.

Hey cookie,
Did you try check if the monitors, computers, or surgeprotector is properly grounded? (sometimes the surge protector will tell you if its properly gounded)
Maybe try to reset the CMOS or take out the videocard, and put it back in. Maybe it was knocked loose a little from taking the monitor cable out of maybe if your foot hit the computer and it got loose.
Try to contact the manufacturer and request a warranty. Sometimes they are nice to fix your videocard if its out of warranty by a little..

Just some suggestions, thanks paul

How can you tell if a surgeprotector is grounded?

I have two lights on the SP. The one on is a round led above the switch. And the 2nd led is the switch itself.

Hey,
You can tell if your surge protector is properly grounded if it has the feature. On my belkin surgemater it has 2 lights. One for power and One for properly grounded.
Or on my APC Backup, it has 2 lights, one red for improperly grounded and 1 green for on.
um.. I'm not too sure for your surgeprotector. Maybe check your manfacturer's website to understand/decode the lights on the sp.
thanks, paul

My refresh rate is at 85 at 12x10 resolution. I have speakers but I think they're shielded (Yamaha YST-MS201)(crappy yes I know, will upgrade soon).

Downloading the new drivers now.

My surgeprotector is something like this...

The top led is lit but the switch itself is not lit.
