Battlefield 1942 via Radeon 9800 np

Im kinda dissapointed. I recently upgraded from a geforce 440 to the radeon 9800 np. However, i see little difference in Frames per second. Those who play battlefield: What settings are you using? Currently im running the game at 1024x768 and details and stuff on max. (anti-aliancing is and anistropic stuff is set to "application preference".) I get on average 60 fps. even when i turn the resolution down im at about 65 fps. I downloaded the most recent catalyst drivers.

Im sure alot of you out there play Battlefield 1942. If you could tell me if the performance im getting is normal.

Im curious to see what kind of vid cards you guys have the fps you get.

Peace

it should, but aa and as will take any card and give it a low fps... try it with those turned off and see what you get...

also think of it this way, you got a better video card, have the settings set better, and get the same fps.... doesnt sound too bad when put that way....

2x AA and 8x AF full details 100% textures in BF 1942. 1024x768 32bit-it flies. Im also the server at same time for our lan games.

Sapphire Radeon 9800 Non pro (not SE) 128mb
Asus A7N8X deluxe
2x 256mb Kingston Value ram cas 2.5 pc 2700 in duel channel mode(512mb total)
Barton 2500+ unlocked version AQXDA
WD 800jbl 8mb cache 80gig 2 platter HDD
Vantec Ion 400watt psu

P.S. turn OFF vsync in 3d options. Its at app pref. And if refresh isnt set-it will cap your FPS off. You guys useing fraps in BF1942 for the FPS? Or comand line? I cant give you a fps-as I dont know where you are getting it from. But I do know its smooth as glass and totally beutifull graphics at high details.

to find fps go to console and type
"console.showfps 1" --It'll show the fps on the top left corner. To get rid of the fps display type "console.showfps 0".

Also, did you bother to install the drivers? I installed the drivers on my 9800 non-pro non-se and I got 100fps on DOD much of the time. Then I moved my motherboard and all in a new case and thus moving the video card out. When I botted it up I started to play DOD again and only got 10-30 fps. I just installed the drivers and got back up to the 100 level. I recommmend you go to www.omegacorner.com and go install the new drivers based on ATIs 3.9 Catalyst drivers.

Probaly a pretty noobish solution, but you sometimes have to start at the basics.

I've got an ATI 9800 Overclocked to 390/640
Athlon XP @ 1992Mhz
768MB PC 133
VIA KT 133a chipset

I run BF1942(and all my games)in 1152 x 864, 6xAA,16xAF High Quality.
I get around 60fps, it never drops below a playable framerate.

I have tried the Omega drivers, and all the catalyst drivers and I use Catalyst 3.6 because they are the fastest and have fewer bugs than the 3.9's

I played BF1942 on a Radeon 9800 np and it actually lagged in some parts (single player) which surprised me.
