My current Athlon XP Temperatures
Current Athlon XP 2000+ Temperature: 48 Degrees Celcius
Current Motherboard Temp: 28 Degrees Celcius
What I'm using: Thermaltake Silentboost with Arctic Silver 3, Two Vantec 120mm Silent Cool Fans, 3 80mm Stock Case Fans, 1 PCI Cooling Fan.
Dilemma: I inserted the Side Case Fans with the label identifying area facing the CPU and Motherboard. Am I supposed to do that?

your temps are fine but one note is if your cpu fan is blowing col ait down on your cpu and your case fan over the cpu is blowing air in your in good shape but if you ahve the cpu fan sucking air off the cpu and the case fan blowing in your kinda negating the effects...flip the case fan and see if it makes any difference

Just so you know, there should be little arrows on the outside of the case fans which denote with direction the fan spins in, as well as which way the fan blows when powered on.

make sure the cpu fan is blowing air ONTO the cpu. also i would suggest trying to have an equal amount of fans blowing air into the case as out to balance the air flow, preferebly on seperate ends of the case.
that might kinda be a high temp, as i've got a athlon xp 2600+ barton, and i've overclocked it to 11x200 which is the speed of the 3200+ and my cpu temp 30C and my system temp is 22. it is a little cold in my room, but even if it were hotter i doubt it would be that high. what's the temp of the room your system is in? it's about 22C in my computer room. I am using a thermalright slk947u and a 92mm fan with AS Ceramique though.
Sorry about the triple post my internet connection is soooo slow it did not seem to have done anything when I posted the message yesterday.

Athlon XP2600+ with ASUS A7N8X-deLuxe mobo with the original cooler. Cpu is running 166MHz x 11.5 (1.9xGHz). Room temp is 27C, CPU(*) 50C, mobo(*) 28C. Air temp at power supply flow exit is 35C, left side cover fan (yeah, there is one there) also 35C. (*) Temp from Asus Probe software, other temp measured with Raytek MiniTemp non contact thermometer.
Yesterday upgraded QuickBooks software. First run it said the database was old and needed to be converted. Ok, go for it. It said to "probably" taking several minutes to do it. After 4 minutes of CPU 100%, CPU temp went 66C. Power supply voltages went crazy; +12.92V, +4.704V, what a heck is that? Interrupted the QuickBooks "cpu-smoking-loop-routine", +5 never came back normal, now it is steady +4.811V, even so CPU temp still steady 50C for normal run. I think Quickbooks database upgrade should be renamed to "QuickSmokes" or "QuickShoots". After machine cooled down, tried again the QuickBooks attempt, exactly same results, cpu was almost boiling water. I don't want to pay to see, so Quickbooks upgrade will wait. Not certain how high temp can goes.
Should I upgrade to a Volcano 12 style cooler? What about install a hose duct on top of the cpu cooler fan, getting external (cooler) air instead of recirculating internal warm air? I managed to measure the temperature of the cpu cooler fan and blades, by removing it pretty fast after machine power off, it was 35C, exactly the same case exiting air temp. By using a duct, cpu would receive air 7C cooler.
I am not afraid of the 50C, but if any other software as the QuickBooks goes for loop or something, cpu temp can goes sky high without any extra help from the cooler.

Quick Books did heat up your comp because it puts a very heavy load on your CPU for quite a long time. All programs will do this so there is absolutly no point in upgrading the software.
You need to keep your CPU tems below about 60 deg C at all times even on full load which will require better cpu cooling and case cooling. The Power supply voltages went sky high because the power supply may not be owerful enough. What is the rating at make / model of the PSU?
I hope this helps.
