WINXP Search Plain/Thumbnail Resets
Hey guys, another issue, maybe I should combine them so here I go.
First: When I open the search option in start menu, my search side panel is very plain, doesn't have the winxp feel, ie not blue, no animation option, looks like win98 or somethin ugly, just white background, kinda like a Kazaa menu, but never installed kazaa or anything like it, just a reference.
Second: Whenever I select the Thumbnail view for one of the folders it constantly resets when I go to another folder and come back. Resets constantly, no matter what the view, id have to set it for all of them to work, its annoying. If I change the settings for one folder view it never stays.

yah that did not work either. I did however a few days ago have an error pop up when windows started that a registry file was saved and winxp has recovered from it. Since then, everything has gone out of whack? Any ideas?

also tried to do a system restore, tried back to 4 days back from error, and none would load, constantly back to where I started. Furthermore, after I defragged my HD, it said all the fragmented files were system restore files, I just did it again and again it was all system restore files. Any clue?

Here is a screenshot of what I mean. It is very ugly, I just did a windows repair, and it did nothing to change the look of this at all. Furthermore, the thumbnail issue still resides, would someone please help or answer this problem.

First: It looks like your Search is set to "Classic-mode". Have you installed any "tweaking" programs lately?
Second: It looks like you need to enable 'Remember each folder's view settings'. Do this by going into 'Folder Options' then 'View' tab and putting a check in the box next to 'Remember each folder's view settings'.

Second: I have done that and it resets everytime I click on another folder, no matter what.

I'd try reinstalling them and set the settings back to the defaults. You could also try M$ own TweakUI from PowerToys for Windows XP | |

Yah I installed the tweakUI from microsoft, not only did it screw up my lsass now I can't even go to my recovery console b/c it asks for an Administrator password which I have not set! Great, now the only thing I can do is format my harddrive, or keep playing around with it, lovely.
