start menu question

Obviously I am new to Linux because of the type of question I am asking. I am trying to add a program's icon to what you would call the start menu in windows. I mean the big menu that is over the red hat. I installed a programming language called scheme on my linux box but it does not install an icon in the start menu. Can anyone tell me how I would go about adding one. Thanx in advance for your help.

Hmm, ok. This is going to depends on your version of Gnome. I am guessing you are running RH9.

Unfortunately I am pretty sure that menu editing is disabled in RH9 with that version of Gnome. There is no friendly way to do it unfortunately. I think later versions of Gnome (later revisions of 2) ship with a menu editor.

Check these pages http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net/redhat...u_editing.html
