Logitech z640 or z540?

Which is better? They are around the same price so that is not the issue. Just how important is the center channel for games and movies?

I was talking to a Creative guy that was at Fry's "advertising" and he said he really likes that extra channel in that back in gaming because you can hear those people coming up behind you or shooting you. But for movie it probaly won't make as much of a difference. I would go with the extra channel one if they were the same price.

The 640 is a 5.1 speaker system. The center channel is placed in the front. I think you're talking about a 6.1 system. Thanks though

I owned the 640's and I never used the center channel anyways. Go with the 540's and get the extra power.

my friend just bought the 640s from ebay for 18.99 buy it now. and it sounds pretty good. bass is decent and overall - the system is better than the 540.

that said, however, DO NOT BUY AT RETAIL of 79.99 - IT IS NOT WORTH IT. buy on ebay or justdeals.com

540s are good, but 640s are alot better from what i have heard (sound card also makes a big difference as i just replaced my onboard with a 5.1 card....)

Didn't particularly like my Z-540's, then again, I have the Klipsch Promedia 4.1's right now, so I'm darn spolied, but still, I didn't like those at all. Very muddy and underpowered, especially in the sub area. The 640 has a better control pod, a center channel, and a beefed up sub, so it should be a better system. Hope you enjoy it.

Well, if you think about, this is just pure logic...

Since the model # 640 is larger than 540, wouldnt a correct assumption be:

640 > 540?

Just a thought :\
