PRO for sure. The SE's are slower 9800's from all I've heard.

They are, But still not sure as to how they perform against the 9600 pro or XT.

sorry read it wrong. Tired, but any way the 9800se in the article I linked to apears to be right around the 9500 in preformance and is quite expensive still. I'd suggest the PRO still. the 9600pro is much faster then the 9500's.

I found a refirbished saphire 9700 pro for $225 on Newegg.

don't get the SE version. 9800 NP or the 9700 Pro. Now my 9800 NP out performs my 9700 Pro...just FYI.
