Systems HELP - i have lost task manager

hey people!

in WIN XP-
whenever i try to alt + ctrl + del or right click on task bar and go "Task Manager" it always has an error message saying

"Task Manager has been disabled by the Administrator"

now the account this does it in is Admin, so i created a new user that was admin (and can use task manager) but can't find where i give the permission to view it on either user account

i also tried running it from //windows/system32

any help would be greatly appreciated, a format is out of the question.

cheers

This should do the trick!

Click Start--Run.
Enter gpedit.msc at the command line and click OK. This will open the Group Policy settings.
Select User Configuration--Administrative Templates--System--Ctrl+Alt+Delete Options--Remove Task Manager.
Double-click the Remove Task Manager option from the Group Policy menu. You can then disable, enable, or set the policy to Not Configured. Remember: Since the policy in question is called Remove Task Manager, by disabling the policy, you are actually enabling the Task Manager. Disabling or setting this policy to Not Configured should alleviate Main's problem.

ctrl+alt+del fix task manager

Im assuming youv'e tried all the fixes you could find online and all have failed as they did with me.

After 3 days of insaninty. This was what was wrong with mine:

A process running named: TQXYIUD.EXE

An application named: Notify

These were one in the same

location: c:\windows\activeXexe\TQxyiud.exe\

I deleted the folder (ActiveXexe) and contents

then

with regedit

I set my (disabletaskmgr) to my liking.

I set mine to (0)

reboot and everthing back to normal

Seems that little application was a Christmas present from a Helter Skelter Inc.

Couldn't find out anything about it.

It was changing my regisrty setting everytime I boot up.

I would manually change it back and everthing would be find until reboot.

But that was my case.

Yours may be different.

But it happen on about Dec.,4th. 2003.

If this isnt the fix for yours email me.

Heres the registry info:

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \System
Name: DisableTaskMgr
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1=Enablethis key, that is DISABLE TaskManager
Value: 0=Disablethis key, that is Don't Disable, Enable TaskManager
