Outdoors SONY VAIO WON'T PLAY AVI FILES

SONY VAIO RX 550 DESKTOP WILL NOT PLAY AVI FILES. IT GIVE AN ERROR, SAYING SUITABLE COMPRESSOR COULD NOT BE FOUND. DOES ANYONE KNOW A SOLUTION, VERY FRUSTRATING, ESPECIALLY AS SONY VAIO'S ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MULTIMEDIA MACHINES!

Did you try downloading Quicktime? That may help it, or you need the avi codecs.

You probably are trying to play a DIVX file, they're .avi files. Go to www.divx.com and download the free codec.

It's probably mad at you because you have CAPSLOCK on.

Don't blame the laptop, it's the software. Look for a codec to play it, like the DivX suggested already.

lol - why are you blaming the laptop - you should know that software must be downloaded to play certain files. avi is a real player file - not a quicktime file.

or am i wrong....hmmm? i think avi is a real file.

Your Vaio also seems to have a broken Caps Lock key. I reccommend cleaning your keyboard more often.

You need to quire the codec. You can either download the DivX movie player (careful, get the non-spyware version) or you can find a Codec pack out there somewhere. I highly reccommend the K-Lite Codec Pack. Has just about everything you need.
