Capped Framerate

Hey all, I have just been given a Ti4400, But the framerate on my games stops at 85fps (what i have my refresh rate at). The frames always cap at what I put my refresh rate to. Usually I install powerstrip and disable vertical sync (Direct 3D). When i do that it shows my true fps. But this time its not working, all my previous video cards it worked on. Any ideas or other ways of uncapping the fps?

What for? As you already noticed, your display device isn't showing any more than 85 frames per second anyway - so why have the machine render more?

Yes But I am curious to see what fps I am getting with this new card. I want to see if there is a greater advance over previous cards I have had. This hasn't been a problem for me in the past so any idea how I can uncap the fps?

CPU usage

PastranA, I recently had that problem. In fact, I just fixed it a few hours ago. There was an unnecessary program running called wincfgg.exe. I'm guessing that I downloaded it off the internet. and it was using all of my system resources. When your fps goes down, press ctrl + alt + del. When your task manager appears, click on the processes bar. See which process that is running is sucking up your resources. This will show your culprit.

one thing you can do is download adaware and/or spybot or other spyware tracking programs...they help to get rid of programs that suck up your power.
