trying to run headless

I have a win98 box that I am trying to run headless (no monitor, kybd, mouse) the problem I am having is that the box insists on having a kybd connected. and this really is not an option... the bios does not support the halt on no error option or even anythign close to it...

so basically... does anyone know of a way to make the bios think there is a kybd attached when there isn't ( like maybe a homemade jumper on the ps2 port somehow)

the box itself is a Comcrap (compaq) deskpro ep bx/p350

I already have all the remote acces set up (winvnc) and now just need the thing to boot completely headless. so basically everything works BUT the keyboard error in bios that requires a keypress to bypass.. (heh)

You need new glasses John Prophet.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but can you just boot it w/ a KB and then unplug it after it's up? That's what I've always done w/ mine.

[sarcasm]
nope unfortuantely not an option thanks to comcrap's high level of interest into the PC extremist's market
[/sarcasm]

[edit]
I wish that was an option evilrick but unfortunately that is not so.. and as it will be a macro machine for an mmorpg it will get rebboted often remotely and it's going to be in a bad spot to connect a kybd just to reboot
[/edit]

The KB draws a small amount of current and the system propably senses this currrent to determine if there is a KB attached.

Probably the best way to approach this is:
Get an old ps2 cable, cut it and separate the wires.
Find which wire is ground and which is + 5
Connect a 10K resistor between them. This will limit the current about 200 microamperes (Safe) and see what happens.

Also, you could chedk oft the websiet (if any) of the keyboard manufacturer to get the specs.

LOL
